Turning 18 In June?

Macneil is having this awesome contest, basically it's a chance to win a free, all expense paid trip to Canada to ride and party with their pro team. If they would have had this around when I was turning 18 I'm pretty sure that I wouldn't have spent my birthday in an 8x8 cell. Go check out their site for details.
Apparently Repset is having a similar contest for the ladies.

How Skateparks Get Damaged
Still think it's bikes that are doing all the damage to skateparks? I think it's hot headed little skater shits like this. Thanks to Portland Riders for posting that.

Turf Wars
So I posted a topic the other day titled Help Get Bikes In Skateparks, and as I became increasingly intrigued I started to do a little research. That's when I came across this article from the Portland Tribune that, quite frankly, pissed me off.
I never really had a problem with skaters aside from the fact that they are slow and clumsy, don't watch where they are going, and whine about bikers... Ok, so maybe I'm not all to fond of skaters, but the artictle in the Tribune isn't helping their cause at all. Kent Dahlgren, leader of one of the major skate advocacy groups in portland, makes a completely absurd claim that it's the skaters who "are continually chased from one place to the next". Does this guy even skate!? Has he ever been to a skatepark!? If he had, he would know that the parks are all majoratively overrun by skaters who constantly bitch and moan about the BMXers. Maybe the skaters should try getting the hell out of our way sometimes. It takes two to tango, but from what I've seen at skateparks is that the BMXers are generally more considerate than the skaters. The bikers uasually wont sit there and complain when a skater takes three runs in a row, but when that same skater, who just took three runs tries to take his fourth, get's plowed down by a biker who was in the clear, they'll usually run home crying to mommy or get pissed off and try to start a fight. It's not our fault that these dumb, selfish, and apparently blind skaters can't fucking share.
Another thing that grinds my gears is the section in the article that talks about seperate parks for BMXers. This is a great idea, except the fact the they only want to give us 10% of the cities skatepark funds to go towards a BMX park, and at the time this article was wrote they had a $500,000 budget to go towards two skateparks, which leaves $50,000 for a designated BMX park... Which would get us what?... A four foot mini ramp? And if they had the budget for two skateparks already why not just make one of them the BMX park?
This "turf war" is absolutely ridiculous, I think it's about time that BMXers get their own park where only bikes are allowed, I feel selfish saying that but that is what the skaters do (or want to do) to us.
If you want to take an active stance on this subject then please direct your questions and comments to the people listed below, and please do so in a polite and professional manner. If you're going to be a dick then don't even bother, it will only make the rest of the BMX community look bad and get us nowhere in the end. Thanks.

Portland Riders

It's Friday and the weather is beautiful, if I'm not out riding I'll probably be BBQ-ing so the posts will probably be few and far between today. However there is one thing that deserves some immediate attention: The guys at PortlandRiders.info are some chill ass dudes. I stop by their site frequently to find local news and the last time I was there I took advantage of their Shoutbox and dropped a free ad bomb, the dude didn't even get mad, instead he offered to put a link to my site on his page, and from now on you'll find a link to his site on mine in my "Outside Linx" section to the right of the page. Help the local scene grow! Big thanks to Kyle and everyone else at Portland Riders.

Help Get Bikes In Skateparks

This skatepark in Portland, OR said that they would allow bikes but it was another story when opening day rolled around, now people are being ticketed for riding there. I never really understood why a skatepark wouldn't allow bikes. In fact the only remotely good argument that I've ever was that metal pegs do more damage to concrete than any part of a skateboard. This is true, however would the city rather pay the to have the extra coping on the ledges and ramps, or would they rather pay the thousands upon thousands of dollars to up-keep their city when all the BMX riders are forced to ride street because they are booted out of the parks. Check out this article on TCU and do your part.

There Is A Shit Storm Brewing

This is a matter of personal opinion but here's what I think about Empirebmx.com:
What a bunch of tools... My buddy tried to order a new frame and some parts off of empirebmx.com, and first of all their website doesn't work, second: their reps bitch and moan about taking orders over the phone, like their job is that fucking difficult. When they finally got around to ordering the parts my friend was told that the frame was out of stock and had to be shipped in from another distributer AND that they were going to charge him an extra shipping fee to do so, he was told the same thing about the bars that he wanted to order. That would make three shipping fees for one order, and shitty customer service, it just doesn't make sense to run a business like that.
What it all boils down to is that: Empirebmx.com = Shitty website, shitty customer service, shit for stock, and a shit load of extra fees.

St. Helens Session

Went to St. Helens Skatepark (St. Helens, OR) to snap a few pics with Troy, ended up running in to some locals who gave me a lot of excellent photo ops. The weather was awesome, the pics turned out nice, and to top it off two little shits got in a fist fight, all in all a pretty good day.

A can-can by Dan. Really? Who does can-cans anymore? None the less it was clean and made for a good shot.

Flinn has some looks, this is one of them...

Troy pulled a 180 off of this and rode away clean.

Just thought this was a cool shot, it reminds me of those monkey to man evolution posters I used to see in science class. Do they still teach evolution in school?

Troy pulling a real clean table.

Flinn tried to bust a huge 360. I wish I would have got more in this picture, it's hard to tell but that is a good 8' drop to flat, he didn't land it this time but he's got balls for trying and I got a good shot out of it.

Nicely done and a great shot.

Troy, doing what appears to be an ice grind.

Troy popping out of the half pipe in to manual, and a fresh shot.

Another one of my "artsy" shots.

Flinn doing a huge turn down.

Nothing too special, just a sick shot of Flinn airing out.

Flinn pulled this huge whipper off clean.

I think Dan named this a "monkey knuckle"...

Flinn likes those whippers.

And of course the only good pics I got of the fight were of this kid getting choked the fuck out.

First Post, First Video Ever
Ok, so this is the very first video I ever made, featuring a bunch of people you've never heard of. It's a bit on the embarrassing side but what the hell, we all need to be humbled once in a while, that and seeing how it is the first post on my first website I figured that it was only right that I used my first video. It was all filmed at Springfield Skatepark in Springfield, OR. I think my favorite part is the begining where Troy eats shit over that manual pad, classic... Enjoy.
